Region Director Success Tips
For Growing Strong CFRW Clubs
1️⃣ Don’t Just Count to 10 — Build to 15
Yes, 10 is the minimum.
But encourage organizers to recruit 12–15 founding members.
Why?
-
Someone will move.
-
Someone will get busy.
-
Someone will disappear after the excitement fades.
A cushion at the beginning prevents a scramble later.
2️⃣ Look for Leaders, Not Just Names
Ask:
-
Who can speak confidently?
-
Who follows through?
-
Who is organized?
-
Who naturally gathers others?
Sometimes the loudest volunteer isn’t the strongest long-term leader.
Help them think strategically about officer selection.
3️⃣ Coach Them on Dues (This One Matters)
New clubs often underprice dues.
Remind them:
-
They must cover CFRW dues
-
NFRW dues
-
AND still have operating funds
If dues are too low, the club struggles immediately.
If they are set properly, the club operates confidently.
4️⃣ Push for Structure Early
Encourage:
-
A consistent monthly meeting day
-
A calendar planned 3–6 months out
-
Clear committee assignments
-
Defined officer responsibilities
Clubs that “figure it out as they go” often stall in year one.
5️⃣ Help Them Think Beyond the First Meeting
Ask:
-
What is your first program?
-
What is your membership growth plan?
-
How will you engage new members?
-
How will you communicate (email list? social media?)
Momentum must follow chartering — not stop at it.
6️⃣ Emphasize Minutes & Documentation
This seems boring… until it isn’t.
Encourage:
-
Clear meeting minutes
-
Proper motions
-
Organized membership lists
-
Financial transparency from day one
Strong paperwork protects the club later.
7️⃣ Encourage Relationship Building with CFRW
Make sure they:
-
Attend CFRW events early
-
Connect with neighboring clubs
-
Understand they are part of something bigger
Isolation kills enthusiasm. Connection builds loyalty.
8️⃣ Watch for Red Flags Early
Region Directors should gently intervene if they see:
-
One dominant personality controlling everything
-
Financial decisions without transparency
-
Officers who never communicate
-
Internal division forming quickly
Early coaching prevents long-term conflict.
9️⃣ Normalize Growth Seasons
Tell new clubs:
-
The first year is about building rhythm.
-
Growth may be slow at first.
-
Consistency beats intensity.
Clubs that stay steady usually thrive by year two.
🔟 Stay Engaged After Chartering
The biggest mistake a Region Director can make is disappearing once the charter is approved.
Set:
-
A 30-day check-in
-
A 90-day check-in
-
A 6-month encouragement call
Support creates stability.
💡 Leadership Reminder for Region Directors
You are not just helping create clubs.
You are building leadership pipelines for CFRW.
Strong clubs create:
-
Future club leaders
-
Future region leaders
-
Future state leaders
-
Future national leaders
And that starts with how you guide them at formation.
