New Conference Speakers Announced Below

PRESIDENT’S WEEKLY SPARK

SPARK: Positivity

Stay positive. Stay engaged. And keep believing in California.

It can be easy, as Republicans living in California, to focus on the challenges around us. We may not agree with the majority of those holding office in Sacramento, and there are certainly days when the political landscape of our state can feel discouraging. But we have so much to be grateful for—and so many reasons to remain hopeful.

We live in an extraordinary state filled with hardworking families, innovative businesses, beautiful communities, and millions of Californians who share many of the values we fight for every day. Most importantly, we have the opportunity to make an impact. Every conversation, every new member, every voter we register, every candidate we support, and every woman we encourage to become involved moves us forward.

Positivity does not mean ignoring the challenges. It means believing those challenges are worth taking on.

That is one of the reasons our CFRW gatherings are so important. This week, we are proud to announce new speakers for our September 25–26 Conference in Burbank, with even more announcements still to come! We are working hard to create a conference that will educate, inspire, connect, and equip our members as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday and look toward the important work ahead.

And there are only a few days left to register at the Early Bird price! Registration prices increase after August 16, so now is the time to reserve your spot.

As exciting as our speakers and programs are, there is something even more valuable about attending a CFRW conference: being together. There is simply no substitute for sitting across the table from Republican women from another part of California, exchanging ideas, building friendships, learning from one another, and remembering that none of us is doing this work alone. That experience should be valued and treasured by every CFRW member.

Our conferences and Board of Directors meetings are open to all CFRW members, and I hope many of you will join us in Burbank. At a minimum, every club should make it a priority to have its Club President or another representative attend each of these meetings. When your club has a seat at the table, the information, ideas, enthusiasm, and connections made there can be brought home and shared with your entire membership.

California is worth fighting for. Our values are worth standing for. And there is every reason to believe that committed Republican women can continue to make a difference in the Golden State.

Stay positive. Stay engaged. And keep believing in California.

SPARK in Practice:

Club Presidents, lead by example by creating a positive and welcoming environment where every member feels valued and comfortable sharing her perspective, remembering that strong leadership builds unity, encourages respectful dialogue, and keeps our clubs focused on the Republican values and goals that bring us together.

Exciting New Speakers Announced for Burbank!

Our September Conference in Burbank is getting better and better, and I am thrilled to announce several new speakers who will be joining us!

We are proud to welcome Michael Gates, Republican candidate for California Attorney General. Michael is an experienced trial attorney and served for ten years as the elected City Attorney of Huntington Beach, where he established the city’s first local criminal prosecutor program. He has made public safety, enforcement of the law, and government accountability central themes of his campaign for Attorney General.

We are also delighted to welcome Gloria Romero, Republican candidate for California Lieutenant Governor. A former California State Senator and the first woman to serve as Majority Leader of the California State Senate, Gloria brings extensive experience in state government and education policy—and a unique perspective on California politics.

Another exciting addition to our program is Mike Howell, President of the Oversight Project. Mike is a nationally recognized government accountability advocate whose organization uses public-records requests and investigative techniques to uncover government waste, fraud, abuse, and lack of transparency. The Oversight Project has filed tens of thousands of public-records requests, and Mike has testified before Congress on government transparency and oversight. We look forward to hearing what his investigative work can teach us about accountability in government.

And because we know how important California legislation and ballot measures are to every one of our members, CFRW Legislative Analyst Michaela Swaney will present an informative look at the propositions appearing on the November ballot. This will be an important opportunity to better understand what California voters will be deciding and to take that knowledge back to our clubs and communities.

And we aren’t finished yet! These speakers join those we have already announced, with more exciting additions still to come. We are well on our way to another exceptional CFRW conference filled with information, inspiration, fellowship, and opportunities to connect with Republican women from across California.

Don’t wait to register! Conference registration prices increase after August 16, so take advantage of the Early Bird price while you still can. Please also make your Hotel Burbank room reservation as soon as possible to ensure you have your room secured.

I can’t wait to welcome you to Burbank in September. Come learn, connect, be inspired, and experience all that a CFRW conference has to offer!

Distinguished Speaker: Congressman James Gallagher

I am excited to invite you to our next CFRW Distinguished Speaker event featuring Congressman James Gallagher on Monday, August 24, from 6:00–7:00 PM!

A longtime friend of California Republicans, Congressman Gallagher spent more than a decade fighting for our values in the California State Assembly, including serving as Assembly Republican Leader, and has now taken that fight to Washington as one of California’s newest members of Congress. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear directly from someone who understands the challenges Republicans face in California and now has a front-row seat to the issues being debated in our nation’s capital.

Even better, we want to hear what YOU want to ask! When you register, you’ll have the opportunity to submit a question for Congressman Gallagher that may be selected for our discussion.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from and engage with one of California’s Republican leaders. Register today using the link provided and join us!

If you need any help or have any questions, please email me,  CFRW 3rd Vice President, Bibi Mesmer.
