We’re nearing the end of the school year. Three ideas: (1) If clubs can afford it, they might “adopt” a class in a school to send home with each student a book for summer reading. (2) Summer is basically downtime for donating, but it’s ideal for identifying possible recipients and collecting books for the fall. (3) Many libraries are holding book sales right now, an opportune time for clubs to buy gently used books for 50¢ to a dollar or two. At this time, club presidents should be completing the simple check-off form for the new NFRW Literacy Award program and then sending to me for compilation. The forms are due to me by June 1. I shall compile the responses, send to Lydia Kanno who will forward to NFRW by June 30.

Thank you all for your support and encouragement while I have chaired CFRW MELP. It’s been so gratifying—and still is!
Gratefully,

Sandy Metzger

CARING FOR AMERICA & ARMED SERVICES AWARD UPDATE

Jennifer Hawks, Chairman

Thank you for working to make our state even better for participating in events and projects for Armed Services and Caring for America. You are the true patriots who make this country great! The deadline to submit your application to me is June 1st.

To clarify, for the 2-year calendar of 2024-2025, you may submit ONE project to be considered for an award. One for Armed Services and one for Caring for America. I realize many of you are doing projects year-round, which is a testimony to the generous hearts of Republican Women making a difference in the lives of others.

The judging is based by the size of your club. Your submission will go into a pool of other projects from the same-sized club. CFRW will choose one from each to send to NFRW. Any questions? Please feel free to contact me directly at: jennifergogop@yahoo.com or call at 650-305-5003.

God Bless America!

Jennifer Hawks
Armed Services and Caring for Amerca Chairwoman
