California Legislature Reconvenes for 2026 Session

The California State Legislature officially reconvened on Monday, January 5th, and the battles are already heating up. With a Democrat supermajority in both chambers, we can expect a flood of bills aimed at directly counteracting policies from the Trump Administration on everything from immigration enforcement and election integrity to energy, transportation, and public safety.

This session is especially critical because 2026 is a midterm election year. The stakes couldn’t be higher: we must work tirelessly to keep Republicans in control of the U.S. Congress.

It’s going to take relentless effort from all of us educating voters on the successes of conservative policies and exposing the dangerous consequences of unchecked progressive legislation. From skyrocketing costs and public safety risks to threats against parental rights and election security, the contrast has never been clearer.

This is the most important election cycle in years. Over the next few months, we need to advocate louder, educate smarter, and mobilize stronger than ever before. The future of California and America depends on it.

California Prop 50 Lawsuit: What's Happening Now?

As the 3-day evidentiary hearing concluded on December 17th, a decision from the federal 3-judge panel is still pending. We had hoped for a ruling in December, but it did not materialize.

Representatives from the Dhillon Law Group have indicated that they will appeal directly to the U.S. Supreme Court if the panel does not rule in their favor.

While a ruling could be issued at any time, a hard deadline effectively exists around February 7th, to allow resolution ahead of candidate filing deadlines for the upcoming elections.

Reform California Hits 1 Million Signatures Milestone in Push for Voter ID Initiative

Reform California has officially surpassed 1 million signatures on the California Voter ID Initiative, a major milestone achieved in a record breaking 90 days through the efforts of over 18,000 trained volunteers statewide. This constitutional amendment aims to require photo ID for casting ballots and verify citizenship for voter registration, addressing concerns over election integrity.

The campaign requires 874,641 valid signatures to qualify for the November 2026 ballot, but proponents are targeting a total of 1.2 million raw signatures to provide a substantial buffer against potential invalidations during the verification process.

The fight is far from over: Organizers, led by Assemblymen Carl DeMaio, are pushing to collect an additional 200,000 signatures as insurance, with all petitions due back by February 6, 2026, ahead of the mid February submission to county elections officials. This extra cushion ensures the measure’s qualification despite any challenges or invalid signatures. Volunteers continue to gather petitions at community events, tables, and through direct outreach.

California DMV Defies Federal CDL Rules: Sean Duffy Poised to Slash Millions in Funding Over Non-Compliance

The ongoing conflict between the U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy and California revolves around the state’s issuance and management of Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDLs), particularly non domiciled CDLs for foreign nationals. Federal regulations under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) mandate that states ensure CDL holders meet strict safety standards, including English language proficiency (ELP), legal U.S. status, and expiration dates aligned with work authorizations. California has violated these rules by issuing thousands of improper CDLs, leading to audits, funding withholdings, and threats of larger cuts. This dispute escalated as a matter of public safety, immigration enforcement, and federal oversight of the state program. Duffy has stated that we need to protect American lives and roads from unvetted drivers, While Governor Gavin Newsom continues to argue it’s politically motivated targeting of immigrants and state autonomy.

Background and Key Issues

  • Federal CDL Requirements: States must comply with 49 CFR Part 383 and 384, which include verifying legal status for non domiciled CDLs (issued to non U.S. residents with temporary work visas) and enforcing ELP tests. Violations can lead to funding penalties under the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) and potential decertification of a state’s entire CDL program.
  • California’s Non Compliance: Audits revealed California issued about 17,000 non domiciled CDLs with expiration dates exceeding holders’ work authorizations, and failed to enforce ELP. This stemmed from state policies allowing broader access to licenses, clashing with federal rules. A class action lawsuit by immigrant advocates claims the revocations unfairly target legal workers.
  • Broader Context: The issue gained traction after many incidents like a fatal crash involving a California issued CDL holder. Duffy’s enforcement is part of a nationwide audit to restore order in trucking. California, with over 700,000 CDL holders, risks massive supply chain disruptions if decertified completely.
  • Funding at Stake: Penalties start at 4% of highway funds (~$160M for California), escalating to 8% or more for repeated non compliance. Decertification could invalidate all California CDLs for interstate use.

Timeline of Events

Here’s a chronological breakdown based on key developments:

  • August 26, 2025: Duffy announces California, Washington, and New Mexico will lose MCSAP funding unless they enforce ELP for CDL holders. Gives 30 days to comply; part of a nationwide audit of non domiciled CDLs.
  • September 26, 2025: Duffy reveals over 25% of California’s CDLs issued to noncitizens were illegal, violating safety standards. Threatens to pull all federal funding from non compliant states.
  • October 15, 2025:Sean Duffy said he was withholding 40 million dollars in funding for California because they were not complying with the English Language Proficiency requirement
  • October 26, 2025: Duffy said he will soon pull an additional $160 million from California and were going to look at pulling California’s ability to issue commercial driver’s licenses. This would be a huge impact for all CDL drivers, their CDLs would no longer be recognized out of state as a federal license and thousands of truck drivers would be affected by this.
  • December 30, 2025: California DMV announces a 60 day delay on revoking 17,000 non domiciled CDLs, pushing the deadline from January 5 to March 6, citing need to avoid wrongful terminations amid a lawsuit.
  • December 31, 2025: Sean Duffy immediately came out and stated;

“Gavin Newsom is lying. The deadline to revoke illegally issued, unvetted foreign trucker licenses is still January 5. California does NOT have an “extension” to keep breaking the law and putting Americans at risk on the roads. Miss the deadline, Gavin, and the USDOT will act — including cutting nearly $160 million in federal funding.”

As of today, with California still refusing to comply with federal CDL laws, the state is likely to lose millions more in federal funding. This puts weigh stations and truck inspections across California in jeopardy.

It’s also drawing more undocumented immigrants to the state for local trucking jobs, as California remains the only place where they can still get these licenses.

A video from a California truck driver talking to a CHP officer highlighted the issue: The officer explained that when a driver doesn’t speak English, they skip the full vehicle inspection especially getting under the truck because it’s too risky if the driver can’t understand directions. They just do a basic paperwork check instead.

That means trucks with serious maintenance or safety problems could be missing critical inspections. With recent accidents and deaths linked to drivers who lack English proficiency and struggle with signs or rules, this is putting millions of California drivers at greater risk from unsafe trucks on the road.

California is making a dangerous situation even worse.

HHS New Childhood Vaccine Schedule & The West Coast Health Alliance Battle (AB 144)

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has officially overhauled the childhood immunization schedule, significantly reducing the number of routinely recommended vaccines for all children from about 17-18 diseases down to 11. This change, effective immediately as of January 5th, shifts several vaccines including COVID-19, influenza, hepatitis A, hepatitis B (including the birth dose), rotavirus, and meningococcal (ACWY and B) out of universal routine recommendation. These are now categorized as either for high risk groups or based on shared clinical decision making with a healthcare provider.

The core vaccines that currently remain routinely recommended for all children are:

  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
  • DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis)
  • Polio
  • Hib
  • Pneumococcal
  • Varicella (chickenpox)

Additionally, HPV is reduced from 2 doses to 1 dose.

However, California along with Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii through the West Coast Health Alliance is refusing to recognize these federal changes. California’s AB 144, signed in September 2025, locks in the federal vaccine recommendations as they existed on January 1, 2025, as the state’s baseline. It empowers the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) to make decisions rather than federal changes in the HHS and CDC.

Key provisions of AB 144:
  • Sets the pre-2026 federal schedule as California’s floor.
  • Let’s CDPH expand or modify recommendations based on their own opinions.
  • Requires providers to follow state guidance for administering vaccines.
  • Mandates no cost coverage through state regulated insurance and Medi-Cal for CDPH recommended vaccines.

So, the broader vaccine schedule from last January remains in effect on the West Coast, and the alliance ensures their policies even as federal recommendations change. With CDPH now driving decisions, we can expect ongoing fights in the Legislature over mandates. Anything is possible this session.

Huge Victory Against Corruption: Minnesota Fraud Scandal Takes Down Walz – California Investigation Launched

The viral video exposing massive fraud in Minnesota’s social services has delivered massive wins. It sparked a federal probe leading to over 98 arrests and played a key role in Governor Tim Walz announcing he won’t seek reelection.

Tuesday morning, President Trump announced a major fraud investigation into California, calling it “more corrupt than Minnesota.”

The announcement has unleashed a flood of tips with independent journalists already receiving hundreds of emails from California state workers with evidence of fraud, just hours after Trump’s post.

This is just the beginning, Billions in stolen taxpayer money are about to be uncovered. Let’s celebrate this momentum and keep pushing for accountability.
