Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, a tough-on-crime Republican sheriff and a strong supporter of President Donald Trump in last year’s election, is the first major Republican to announce his campaign for the 2026 gubernatorial race. Bianco is a thirty-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office and is now serving his second term as Riverside County Sheriff. When asked why he was running for Governor, Sheriff Chad Bianco responded by sayng “California is Failing”. Sheriff Bianco comes from one of California’s most reliable Republican counties.
